
The Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, conducted a field data collection in Samut Songkhram Province under the project on "Quality of Life Improvement and Income Enhancement for Grassroots Communities through Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Fiscal Year 2025."
On March 21, 2025, a team led by Lecturer Pongpisit Liangyu, Head of the Digital Innovation and Content Management Program, Ms. Panisara Nituthorn, Head of Research and Academic Services, Mr. Pannawat Thongsuk, and Ms. Malee Thongphim, along with social engineer students from the Digital Innovation and Content Management program, Digital Content Management sect, conducted a field visit to Bang Khonthi Subdistrict and Yai Phaeng Subdistrict (Ban Pak Khlong Bang Noi), Bang Khonthi District, Samut Songkhram Province. This area encompasses the Bang Noi canal-side community, the Bang Noi Floating Market, and Wat Bang Noi, where a significant number of local farmers cultivate bananas.
The team recognized the potential of banana rope, a byproduct of banana cultivation, to be valorized. The community expressed a desire to generate income and establish a supplementary occupation by crafting various products from banana rope, such as bags and woven baskets. Furthermore, they aspire to develop these products into OTOP (One Tambon One Product) goods for the community.
This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: Goal 1: Ending poverty, by promoting livelihoods for households and elevating community income; Goal 4:Ensure that everyone has access to inclusive and equitable quality education and Goal 12: Ensure sustainable production and consumption patterns.
