Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University transfers of knowledge 

on "Coconut Husk Dye Textile Printing Paste" to Generate Careers and Enhance Local Product Value

On February 8, 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, conducted a field visit to Bang Khonthi Subdistrict, Samut Songkhram Province, to host a practical workshop on "Coconut Husk Dye Textile Printing Paste." The objective was to disseminate knowledge to local households and residents, promoting the utilization of local resources for maximum benefit, creating career opportunities, and improving the community's quality of life. This initiative was led by Dr. Ploytrai Ohama, the team leader responsible for the tie-dye household group, along with faculty members and students from the Science and Innovation program, who collectively shared expertise on natural dye extraction from coconut husks and the eco-friendly textile printing paste production process.

The event was met with great enthusiasm from the participating villagers. Members of the tie-dye group and residents of Bang Khonthi Subdistrict had the opportunity to experiment with the textile printing paste and practice screen printing techniques using natural dyes derived from coconut husks. This endeavor not only added value to the economic crops of Samut Songkhram Province but also enabled villagers to further develop their skills for career advancement and supplementary household income. Ms. Renu Leknimit, President of the Bang Khonthi Subdistrict Administrative Organization, stated that the natural dye textile printing paste products would be integrated into community tourism promotion activities, thereby stimulating the local economy and establishing Bang Khonthi Subdistrict as a hub for natural resource-based handicraft development.

This project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: Goal 1, Eliminate Poverty, by enhancing skills and knowledge for income-generating product manufacturing; Goal 8, Decent employment and Economic Growth, as local raw material product development increases career opportunities and strengthens the grassroots economy; Goal 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by applying science, technology, and innovation to develop new eco-friendly products; Goal 12, Sustainable production and consumption, emphasizing the efficient use of natural resources, waste reduction, and the promotion of resource recycling; and Goal 17, Cooperation for Sustainable Development, through the integration of educational institutions, government agencies, and the community to promote learning, economic development, and sustainable local resource utilization.

This event marks a significant step in leveraging scientific and innovative knowledge to foster community development and serves as a model for the judicious use of resources. The Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, remains committed to advancing community innovation development projects to create economic opportunities, enhance competitiveness, and sustainably improve the quality of life for local residents.
