The Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, is organizing a workshop on "Queen Selection for Stingless Bee Expansion" to support grassroots community development in accordance with sustainable development guidelines.

On March 5, 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, led by Assistant Professor Sakuntra Khamchu, along with faculty members, staff, and social engineer students, visited Bang Nang Li Subdistrict, Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram Province. They implemented a project focused on improving the quality of life and enhancing the income of grassroots communities through scientific, technological, and innovative knowledge. The project specifically targeted the development of the potential of stingless bee (Tetragonula pagdeni) farmers, as these bees play a crucial role in pollinating the province's key economic crops, such as coconuts, pomelos, and lychees.

The activity consisted of a practical workshop on "Queen Bee Selection for Stingless Bee Expansion," which demonstrated the correct methods for selecting queen bees to increase the stingless bee population in the area. This not only helps to increase agricultural yields but also promotes cost-effective production by reducing reliance on chemical pesticides, aligning with organic farming practices and the conservation of biodiversity in the community. The workshop featured Mr. Wasan Phupha, Chairman of the Plang Yai Channarong Group, as a guest speaker to share knowledge with local farmers at the Bang Nang Li Smart Group Community Enterprise.

This project aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including promoting sustainable agriculture, improving the quality of life for farmers, enhancing food security, and conserving biodiversity, particularly by reducing the impact of chemical pesticides in agriculture. It supports SDG 2, Eliminate Hunger, by increasing environmentally friendly agricultural productivity; SDG 8, Decent employment and Economic Growth, by enhancing the livelihoods of local farmers; and SDG 15, Conservation of terrestrial ecosystems, by promoting organic farming practices that help restore biodiversity.

The Faculty of Science and Technology, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, remains committed to applying scientific, technological, and innovative knowledge to support the development of grassroots communities, thereby fostering sustainable economic, social, and environmental security.
